Evidence first. Interpretation second.
SerpStep helps independent website builders decide what to investigate and build next. It does not turn missing data into certainty.
Three kinds of information
Read directly from user input, the visible SERP, provider fields, or fetched pages.
Produced by deterministic rules such as counts, ratios, classifications, and documented score bands.
An explanation based on evidence already displayed. Inference is labelled and carries uncertainty.
Freshness and provider state
Where external data is used, a report should show its market, collection time, live/cached/example state, and available provider coverage. Search results change; an analysis is a time-stamped reading, not a permanent fact.
Missing data stays missing
If a provider does not supply authority, traffic, backlink, page content, related-search, or PAA fields, SerpStep marks them unavailable. It does not substitute zero or manufacture a number.
Limits of any recommendation
A score is not a ranking guarantee. Brand strength, links, product quality, execution, content quality, and changes to the result set can all alter the outcome. SerpStep supports a decision; you remain responsible for the decision.
